*August 8, 2015, Saturday, 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., AAUW/Ohio Leadership Workshop in Roush Hall on the campus of Otterbein, $30 registration includes lunch.  The theme is “Branch Counterpart Focus Day”.  The officers of local branches will meet with their state level counterparts. To register mail a check for $30 made out to AAUW Ohio with “Leadership Conference” on the memo line to Kaylee Pavel, AAUW Ohio Administrator at AAUW Ohio, P.O. Box 593, Kalida, OH 45853.  Include your name, address, phone number, email address, and the name of the AAUW branch to which you belong.  Registration deadline is July 31, 2015.

*August 26, 2015, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.–Wednesday, a social event to celebrate Women’s Equality Day with a short update on voting changes from Bruce Burnworth of the Delaware County Board of Elections, and a quiz to see what you know about women getting the right to vote. Also, a photo op with Susan B. Anthony–This is a joint meeting with the League of Women Voters of Delaware County in the Austin Manor lounge, 95 Elizabeth St., Delaware, OH . In 1971 the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.”  The date was selected to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote.

September 14, 2015, Monday, 6:45 p.m. View and discuss the film “Miss Representation”, a 2011 American documentary film, in  A/V room 27 of the Beeghly Library on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. The film shows how mainstream media contributes to the under-representation of women in influential positions by circulating limited and often disparaging portrayals of them.

*October 7, 2015, Wednesday, Olentangy Local School District Candidates Night, presented with the Delaware County League of Women Voters in the Orange Township Community Room in the North Orange Park Aquatic Center  (Orange Township Pool), 7560 Gooding Road, off from Route 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.  Candidates for the position of OLSD School Board will present their qualifications and respond to questions from the audience.

*October 17, 2015, Saturday, 9:30 a.m. Jennifer Dillard presenting “Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, Gender Equality and Economic Self Sufficiency”–What does research say about gender norms, economic self-sufficiency, life skills for girls and leadership for women in Central Ohio? Joint meeting with the Worthington Branch at All Saints Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High Street, Worthington.

November 9, 2015, Monday, 6:45 p.m. View and discuss the movie “Still Alice”, following the progression of a woman diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease, in an A/V room of the Beeghly Library on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.  Dr. Alice Frazier will answer questions about Alzheimer’s during a discussion following the movie.

December 21, 2015, Monday, 6;00 p.m. Holiday Potluck Dinner at the home of Christel Mattern. Discussion of the book Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. Please R.S.V.P. to bmartin@columbus.rr.com.

*January 20, 2016, Wednesday, 7 p.m. The Friends of the Delaware County District Library have invited Piper Kerman, author of “Orange is the New Black” to speak at Gray Chapel on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University about the time she spent in prison.  Following the lecture there will be a Q&A session. Tickets can be purchased at eventbrite.com after November 1.

February 8, 2016, Monday, 7:15 p.m. Discussion of the book Orange is the New Black, My Year in a Women’s Prison by Piper Kerman at the home of Karen Rainey. Please R.S.V.P. to bmartin@columbus.rr.com.

*March 12, 2016, Saturday, 9:30 a.m. Solving the Equation: The Variables for Women’s Success in Engineering and Computing–Joint meeting with Worthington Branch at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 North High Street Worthington, Ohio

*April 2016, State Convention and Ohio Equity Day, Friday and Saturday, April 8-9–at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North Hotel, 6500 Doubletree Ave., Columbus, OH 43229.

*April 12, 2016, Tuesday, Equal Pay Day. This date symbolizes how far into this year women must work to earn what men earned in the  year beginning January 2015 and ending December 31, 2015.

May 7, 2016, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. Potluck Brunch and Program Planning for 2017  50th Anniversary Year at the home of Barbara Martin. Please R.S.V.P. to bmartin@columbus.rr.com
